MBA的英文全称是Master of Business Administration,中文为“工商管理硕士”。工商管理硕士学位系一个专业学位,其理论基础为经济学和管理学,知识结构为不同领域学科的有机结合,研究对象涵盖了企业经营运作中的资金筹措、投资、财务管理、营销和资源有效配置等各个领域,其目的是培养高层次务实性的管理人才,充分体现了市场经济运行的典型特征。MBA教育兴起于美国,1900年世界上第一所管理研究生院——美国达特茅斯大学塔克商学院创立(尽管当时还没有冠以MBA的名称),第二次世界大战后蓬勃发展。经过一个多世纪的发展变化,MBA教育逐步从经验教学走向了成熟,并形成了较为完善的学科教育体系。MBA已经成为一种世界性的学位,MBA毕业生也成为许多国家工商企业管理层的中坚力量,为各国的经济发展发挥了不可忽视的作用。
  在国外,MBA教育在不断革新和发展;相比而言,中国国内的MBA教育却起步得很晚,至今仅有十来年历史。中国从1991年开始试办MBA教育,首批9所高校获准拥有颁发MBA证书的资格,开始正式招收MBA学员。经过十多年的时间,中国MBA教育得到了长足的发展。到2007年全国共有127个MBA专业学位研究生培养单位,MBA教育在中国已经从试点逐步走向成熟。中国MBA教育在如火如荼的进行,但是毕竟由于发展的时间不长,因而经验显得不是很足,遇到不少问题。因此,非常有必要结合中国的实际情况,有目的地去借鉴国外MBA教育的经验,以便进一步推进中国MBA教育的发展。本报告聚焦于世界上第一所管理研究生院——美国达特茅斯大学塔克商学院,以塔克商学院的网站为重要资料来源,并结合其他方面的各种资料,对塔克商学院发展历程一一予以剖析,以期对中国MBA教育提供参考性意见。
  本报告主要分为以下四个部分:第一部分为塔克商学院MBA教育情况综述,包括塔克商学院发展历史和办学环境等;第二部分介绍了塔克商学院的招生和就业情况,以及塔克MBA毕业生在社会中的口碑;第三部分为塔克商学院培养模式介绍,包括塔克商学院具体的课程安排,合作项目以及师资情况;第四部分探讨了塔克商学院MBA教育对中国MBA教育的启示。
  研究指出,中国的MBA教育经过十几年的实践和摸索,已经迈入大踏步前进的时代。但是,中国的MBA教育还处在起步阶段,有许多地方需要向国外同行学习和借鉴,这主要集中在以下几个方面:利用自身的特点,办出特色;在教学方式和课程设置上,与时俱进;有明确的办学目的和策略;拥有强大的校友网的支持;立足于中国国情,积极参与全球化竞争。

Abstract

  The full English name for MBA is Master of Business Administration. MBA is a post graduate degree in business world; it is of great importance for the people in business and administration. MBA education offers comprehensive and integrated courses covering various areas,including economy,finance,investment,marketing,logistics,management,resources allocation and so on. The aim of MBA education is to develop high-level management executives for the business enterprises. 
  MBA education originated in American when the first management graduate college—Dartmouth College Amos Tuck School of Business Administration was founded in 1900. After the Second World War,MBA education became more and more popular in developed countries. At present,after more than one century’s development,MBA is regarded as a worldwide degree and lots of MBA graduates are now playing an important role in the enterprises all over the world.
  The MBA education in China,though a relatively late starter,has developed very fast. In the year 1991,nine universities have been granted to enroll MBA students and the number has grown into 127 in the year 2007. China’s MBA education is now much more mature than before. Although the MBA education in China has made lots of progress,there are still many problems due to the lack of experiences and some other reasons.
It is necessary to learn from the experiences from the world’s top universities in order to promote the MBA education in our country into a new high. Therefore,by using the college website as the main source of data,as well as other relevant materials and documents and by making comparative studies,we try to portray the MBA education in Tuck School of Business,which is the first management graduate college in the world,in order to give some strategic suggestions on improving the MBA education in China.
  This report can be divided mainly into four parts: Firstly,a general introduction to Tuck MBA School is provided,including its origin,development and teaching environment. Then,the report gives an insight into the enrolment of MBA program in Tuck,the employment of its graduates and the social reputation of its graduates. Afterwards,its cultivation mode is analyzed in detail,namely,its curriculum,cooperative programs with other universities and colleges home and abroad and the introduction to its teaching staff. The last part deals with what China’s MBA program can learn from Tuck MBA.
  The report points out that great progress has been made in MBA education in China after more than a decade of efforts. However,there is still a long way to go. China’s MBA program can get some hints from Tuck MBA. Tuck has some disadvantages in its geographic location,but it makes good use of it and makes Tuck community a closely-knit one; Tuck emphasizes on developing the business leadership skills of each student to the highest level,at the same time it introduces some new courses or programs that keep up with the changing world; etc. In the end,we point out that China is in the process of changing from planned economy to market economy,which provides perfect cases and materials for MBA teaching staff and students to study. This is an opportunity to China’s MBA program.
