SBA’s School Strategy


 “Pursuing International Trends, Embracing Local Practice, Promoting School Advantages, and Delivering Responsible Management” is the School Strategy for SBA. In the coming five years, the MBA education of the School will follow this strategy to make its future development roadmap.  


A. Follow international trend to upgrade our MBA education philosophy


         Making up for the weakness in internationalization. 

        Firstly, with regard to faculty team, we’ll stick to the principle of combination of “bringing in” and “going out” to realize the two-way interaction of international cooperation and exchanges; on the one hand, we’ll hire the top scholars of the top overseas universities as guest professors so as to establish stable channels and links of international exchanges; on the other hand, we’ll, resorting to the top overseas scholars, strengthen bringing in overseas doctors and, by sending visiting scholars abroad and attending high-level academic conferences, expand the global vision of the MBA faculty members in an all-round way. Secondly, with regard to scientific research, we’ll enhance substantial cooperation with the top business schools and scholars from the top universities to yield more fruits of internationalization and raise the proportion of the internationalized MBA cases as well as achieve the sustainable increase of publishing in the top international journals, and thus boosting the international academic competitiveness and reputation of our MBA education. Lastly, with regard to talent-cultivating, we’ll incorporate the quality education resources into the whole process of teaching and research of our MBA education by conducting high-level joint programmes in order to expand the global vision of the MBA students and promote their ability of existence and development internationally.


          Following the technological development of the times. 

          In recent years, various kinds of new technologies and new things keep surging represented by mobile internet, big data, artificial intelligence, block chain, and socialized media, etc., most of which are authentic while some of which are bubbles. In the process of the technological transformation, it’s necessary for the School to help the MBA students see clearly the future development trend and learn to distinguish between opportunities and threats. In the meanwhile, besides revising the training scheme every two or three years, the School is supposed to adjust some selective courses by following the hot spots of the society, such as adding the following courses, Electronic Business and Retail Strategy, Internet+ Start-up Financing, Internet Enterprise Evaluation, Big-data-based Business Innovation and Entrepreneur Design, to the scheme. What’s more, in line with the changes of the times, the School will explore reforms in curriculum design, case bank construction, and practice-oriented teaching, for example, inspiring teachers to compile teaching cases via combining consultation projects with business practice, to facilitate the enterprises in better understanding the technological development trend and combing their own future development strategies.


          Following the national economic strategy of China.

         In recent years, with the advancement of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, more and more Chinese enterprises go out and invest in the Belt and Road countries, which contributes greatly to the demand of the MBA talents. The School is expected to grasp the significant opportunity to focus on training the high-level MBA talents who satisfy the “Belt and Road Initiative” demand. Furthermore, to better meet the strategic talent demands of the Belt and Road countries, the School should strengthen the programmes of IMBA to promote the relevant countries’ talent storage by studying abroad programmes. Apart from the above measures, considering that China now is at the crucial period of supply-side structural reform and quality economic development, the MBA education of the School must give high priority to social service, for instance, keeping building university-local-government as well as university-enterprise cooperation platforms, to facilitate local social and economic development. The MBA faculty members are supposed to reach consensus and contribute business wisdom for the sound development of enterprises.



         B. Embrace the local practice to localized our MBA education  

The original mission of the MBA education is to improve the comprehensive qualities and management abilities of students and make them better serve China’s social and economic development. Hereby, the School, while chasing the trend of the MBA education, must take into consideration the localization strategy.


       Conducting scientific research demonstrating China’s aboriginal characteristics. Both faculty and students should, targeting at solving the problems in the process of China’s social and economic development, conduct high-level China-Problem-oriented research to develop the classic cases in the Chinese management practice and create new business knowledge with Chinese aboriginal characteristics.  


       Facilitating transformation and upgrading of the local economy comprehensively. For one thing, the School vigorously encourages MBA faculty and students to go to the enterprises for investigation for solving the problems in business management practice as well as promoting the sound development of the enterprises, the so-called micro-subjects of the market; for another thing, the School encourages the MBA teachers to apply the theories they acquire to solve the problems by providing consultation for all levels of governments and trying their best to persuade the latter to accept their consultations so as to build the School’s impact on the latter.


        Responding to the development demand of alumni and enterprises actively.

       Firstly, the School aims in training the high-level MBA talents who can satisfy the demand of alumni and enterprises. It persists in incorporating coordinated talent-cultivating and cross-industry education into the MBA training scheme to strengthen university-enterprise cooperation to reinforce practice, to expand the MBA students’ vision of research and open their mind, to improve their ability of conducting cross-disciplinary and cross-section cooperation and exchanges and their ability of observing, analyzing, and solving problems in enterprise development. Secondly, the School strives for enhancing the alumni’s participation in the MBA teaching by inviting the distinguished alumni for lectures as well as by stimulating university-enterprise cooperation and exchanges for common development.



       C. Present school advantages to build a talent-cultivating mode of integrating economics, law and management.

        As a higher education institute specializing in economics and law, the University gives equal priority to the above-mentioned three major disciplines and has been pushing forward their integration, which is rare among others. As a result, the School makes full use of the unique strength and strives for casting a talent-cultivating mode of integrating economics, law and management:  


         With reference to scientific research, the School, taking firm hold in the two first-grade disciplines, business administration and applied economics, on the one hand, makes great effort in meeting the disciplines of business, law, and theoretical economics of the other schools to build a cross-school and cross-disciplinary research team; on the other hand, it sets up open research fund to encourage teachers to conduct cross-disciplinary projects, in which the MBA students are deeply engaged.


         With reference to curriculum construction, the School offers the following course, the Economic Law, the Intellectual Property Management, the Management Economics, the Macro-Economic Situation Analysis, to the MBA students for helping them build the knowledge system featuring integration of economics, management and law.


          With reference to talent-cultivating, the School actively carries forward teaching and education reforms to keep improving education quality and highlight the talent-cultivating mode of “Fostering integrated, innovative and open-minded MBA talents”. In the meanwhile, it, resorting to the discipline advantages of the University, strives for foster the quality cross-disciplinary business elites who can shoulder the historical mission and who are courageous to take responsibilities and understand economics, management and law.
