 Schooling years and hours of MBA programmes

 MBA Education Centre adopts a flexible length of schooling years with course hours and credits combined. The duration of both our full-time and part-time MBA programmes is two years. The duration can be prolonged but cannot exceed four years. Three requirements shall be met to obtain an MBA Degree Certificate:

(1)A minimum of 45 credits, including 2 degree courses, 12 compulsory courses and at least 8 elective courses;

(2)A minimum of 2352 learning hours including a minimum of 672 class hours;

(3)Completion of thesis and pass of thesis defence.

 Schooling years and hours of EMBA programme

 With a flexible length of schooling years, the EMBA education duration is from 2 to 4 years. Three requirements shall be met to obtain an EMBA Degree Certificate:

(1)A minimum of 32 credits, including 2 degree courses, 8 compulsory courses and at least 8 elective courses;

(2)A minimum of 2,048 course hours including a minimum of 512 class

MBA Programme Plan of ZUEL MBA Education Centre

 In accordance with The Regulations of the People’s Republic of Chinaon Academic Degrees and the Requirements for the Process of MBA Education of China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee, thisPlan has been formulated in light of the reality of ZUEL.

I.Objectives

 The mission of our MBA Programme is to “cultivate responsible and professional business elites who are well versed in finance, politics and law”. Students should have the following qualities after graduation:

1.Love the motherland, abide by laws, and have the sense of social responsibility, moral quality and cultural accomplishment that meet the requirements of socialist construction.

2.Be well versed in the knowledge of “economics, management and law”, and be able to solve practical problems of business administration with professional knowledge.

3.Have strong innovation ability, decision-making ability and organizational coordination ability; have strong oral and written expression ability, communication ability and team-work skills; have strategic and innovative thinking, be competent to deal with business change and act asbusiness leader.

4.Be able to track the new progress of business management theories and practices, summarize from practical experience, and adhere to life-long learning and continuous self-improvement.

II. Enrollment

 MBA applicants must meet one of the following three requirements: a minimum of five years’ work experience with a junior college diploma; a minimum of three years’ work experience with a bachelor’s degree; or a minimum of two years’ work experience with a master’s or doctor’s degree. All applicants should participate in the National MBA Entrance Examination. Those who meet the score requirements will be given a chance for interview, through which the final admission result will be decided.

III. Study mode

 1. Study period and credit requirements

 Our MBA Programme is available in part-time mode, with a basic study period of two years. Those who cannot graduate within this time limit may apply for a postpone. But the longest study period must not exceed four years. Students may apply for graduation before the time limit as long as they have obtained enough credits, passed the thesis defence and met other requirements of ZUEL.

 To obtain credits, MBA students need to complete the course studystipulated in this Education Plan, and pass the examinations. The required credits for graduation and degree acquisition are not less than 45 credits, including 28 credits for compulsory courses, 10 credits for elective courses, 3 credits for practices and 4 credits for thesis. Only after students have obtained the required course credits can they write their theses, and only after the thesis has been successfully defended can they apply for the MBA degree.

 2. Teaching methods

 The teaching methods of our MBA Programme include but not limited to course study, enterprise investigation, lecture and paper research.

 Course study includes classroom teaching and case teaching. The courses must be based on the combination of theory with practice, practically-oriented and given by experts with rich practical experience. Emphasis should be laid on the cultivation of students’ ability of discovering, analyzing and solving problems, innovative ability, decision-making ability, organizational coordination ability and teamwork skills. In addition, students’ social responsibility consciousness and business ethics should also be emphasized in the teaching process.

 The role of case teaching is highlighted. New educational technologies such as rain classroom and online course (MOOC) will be introduced. The cases will include both Chinese characteristics and international perspective, with the purpose of turning students into business elites who are rooted in thepractices of business administration in China and are equipped with global thinking and global vision at the same time.

 The academic performance of MBA students should be evaluated comprehensively in terms of tests (including oral examination), homework, classroom discussions, case analysis (design), and reports.

 3. Thesis supervision

 The Supervising Group is responsible for formulating students’ personal training plans, giving advice for teaching and practicing activities, and ensuring the quality of theses. The Supervising Group is composed of qualified professors, associate professors, young and middle-aged backbone teachers and senior managers in enterprises or economic management departments.

 On the basis of students’ systematic mastery of the theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of business administration, theses are supposed to improve students’ ability of applying theories to practices and ability of discovering, analyzing and solving problems under the guidance of the supervisors.

IV. Curriculum

 MBA courses are divided into degree courses and non-degree elective courses. Degree courses are divided into common compulsory courses, discipline basic courses and key courses (major). Common compulsorycourses, including political courses and foreign language courses, are compulsory.

 Non-degree elective courses are set up by MBA Education Center according to the characteristics of business administration education and MBA education programmes in ZUEL, including elective courses (major) and other elective courses. Elective courses (major) are offered by MBA Education Center, and other elective courses are offered by Graduate School and School of Business Administration.

V. Practical teaching

 Our MBA Programme highlights practices, including outward bound activities, lectures, competitions, enterprise investigations, management diagnosis and so on, with the purpose of improving students’ ability of applying theories to practices. The credits for practices should be no less than 3 credits.


VI. Thesis

 The students will go into the stage of thesis writing after all courses have been accomplished and the required credits have been obtained. The thesis should be completed under the guidance of the supervisor assigned by the School. Only with the assent of the supervisor could be thesis be submitted to the School for thesis defence and degree application. Qualified theses will receive 4 credits.

 The topic of MBA thesis should be chosen from management practice, which requires students to find problems based on the actual needs ofenterprise management and problem-oriented research and case study are recommended. The thesis could be thematic research, investigation report, enterprise diagnosis report, enterprise management case and analysis, business plan, etc.

 MBA theses should comprehensively reflect students’ abilities to discover, analyze and solve problems independently, as well as their abilities of investigation and writing. The theses should follow standard writing formats and should be practical, clear-cut and arguments-supported. The conclusions should be reliable.

VII. Graduation and Degree Conferring

 MBA students shall be awarded the ZUEL master’s diploma after they have obtained the required credits (no less than 45 credits). Those who have finished the thesis and passed the thesis defence shall be conferred the MBA degree according to relevant regulations of ZUEL.

VIII. Others

 This Plan has been approved by the Graduate School of ZUEL and shall be applicable to students of 2019. The right to interpret the Regulations is reserved by MBA Education Centre of School of Business Administration, ZUEL. Other uncovered matters shall be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations on the management of Postgraduates of ZUEL.
