March is the month for Two Sessions. On March 3, 2019, the second session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee opened in Beijing. On March 5, the second session of the 13th National People's Congress was also held in Beijing. The year of 2019 is the seventieth year of the founding of New China, and also the key year to win the victory of building a well-off society in an all-round way. The two sessions have attracted close attention from all sides. School of Business Administration will keep up with the trend and collect the opinions in the two sessions. From now on, School of Business Administration will invite academics to join us and we will together focus on people's livelihood and the Two Sessions.

 Resolve Poverty and Strive for Rural Revitalization

 China cannot be strong without strong agriculture and cannot be beautiful without beautiful countryside and cannot be rich without farmers being rich.

 At the crucial year to achieve the target of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and achieve the first Centenary Goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, prioritize the development of agriculture and rural areasPremier Li Keqiang has showed in the government work report that the priority is to complete the tasks of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, prioritize the development of agriculture and rural areasfocus on deeply impoverished areas and the most vulnerable groups so as to lay a solid foundation for rural revitalization

 Beating poverty is the basic requirement in the target of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects in 2020. 2018 is the first year of the three-year campaign of precise poverty alleviation. Precision poverty alleviation made significant progress, with the rural poor population reduced by 13.86 million, including 2.8 million people assisted through relocation from inhospitable areas. There are only 16 million rural poor population left for the following two years, but the population are from areas of extreme poverty like the "three regions and three prefectures" which makes the task extremely difficult. Premier proposed to intensify poverty alleviation in areas of extreme poverty like the "three regions and three prefectures," and ensure social safeguards for the most vulnerable groups. He emphasized that the further we get in the crucial stage of the fight, the greater the need, in every aspect of our work, to tackle real problems with attention paid to details, to be certain to deliver substantive, sustainable outcomes that stand the test of time.

  The rural revitalization is the keystone of realizing national rejuvenation. In the report, Premier insist to prioritize the development of agriculture and rural areas, put poverty alleviation, rural revitalization and new urbanization together, and stay true to the vision of people-centered development, continued to uphold materialismmade strategic plans on national rejuvenation and it will all leads to a new chapter of rural revitalization in the new era.

The Poverty Control and Evaluation Research team that he lead has been selected as 2018 Excellent Young and Middle Age Science and Technology Innovation Team of Higher Education of Hubei Province. He is now focusing on Rural Poverty Control and Economic Behavior of Farmer. He has presided over 30 research programs, including 4 projects of the National Natural Science Fund, 3 international cooperation projects, and projects supported by Humanities and Social Science Fund of the Ministry of Education.

  •  He has published more than 60 articles as first author in China Economic Review, China Agricultural Economic Review, Asian Economics Journal, China Soft Science, Scientia Agricultura Sinica, China Population Resources and Environment, China Rural Survey. He has published 7 books including Dynamics of Poverty: Theory and Evidence.

  •  He has won 6 awards including the third prize of Excellent Scientific Research Award of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education; the third prize for Hubei Social Science Achievements Award; Hubei Excellent Doctoral Thesis.
