March is the month for Two Sessions. On March 3, 2019, the second session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee opened in Beijing. On March 5, the second session of the 13th National People's Congress was also held in Beijing. The year of 2019 is the seventieth year of the founding of New China, and also the key year to win the victory of building a well-off society in an all-round way. The two sessions have attracted close attention from all sides. School of Business Administration will keep up with the trend and collect the opinionsin the two sessions. From now on, School of Business Administration will invite academics to join us and we will together focus on people's livelihood and the Two Sessions.

 New Age Needs "Craftsman Spirit"

 During the 2019 Two Sessions, Premier Li Keqiang put forward in the Government Work Report that to“encourage the spirit of struggle, the spirit of science, a role-model work ethic, and the pursuit of fine workmanshipIn fact, he emphasized the " fine workmanship " in the government work reports of the two sessions from Year 2016 to 2019.

 On March 5, 2016, Premier Li Keqiang formally put forward the " fine workmanship" for the first time in his government work report. He encouraged enterprises to carry out customized and flexible production, cultivate the craftsman spirit of excellence, increase varieties, improve quality and create brand.

 Nowadays, there are lots of uncertainties and complexities in worldeconomy. China's economy is changing from high-speed growth to high-quality development. It is striding forward from a big manufacturing country to a powerful manufacturing country. Inheriting and cultivating the spirit of craftsmen, building a knowledge-based, skill-based and innovative team of workers, and bringing up a large number of craftsmen is the concrete implementation of the strategy of strengthening the country by talents and the revitalization of industry. It is the internal need and effective measure for promoting the structural reform of supply, accelerating the economic transformation and upgrading, and realizing the Chinese dream. It lays a solid foundation for the country's innovation and development withspecial significance.

 Fine workmanship has last for thousands of years in China. We have papermaking, printing, gunpowder, compass and Zhaozhou Bridge in ancient times. In modern times, we have embroidery and Jingdezhen ceramics. Nowadays, we have manned spaceflight, ultra-high voltage smart grid in national power grid, smart phone and 5G networks in Huawei Company. Generations of craftsmen devoted their lives to their work and they regard the work as practice and treasure the quality of their work as life.

 The spirit of fine craftsmen in the new era includes dedication, excellence, teamwork and innovation. For contemporary enterprises, fine craftsmanship is the spirit of focusing on details, constantly improving and striving to pursue high-quality products and high-quality services. It is an attitude of striving for excellence in work with absolute devotion. It is also a belief of pursuing breakthroughs and innovations and be diligence, careful anddetermined.

 Although fine workmanship originated from handicraft industry and workshop, and become the gene of longevity enterprise, in fact, this spirit is essential in every filed. If we put fine workmanship in enterprise, we will get quality, brand, reputation and confidence;if we put fine workmanship in people, we will get talent, master and powerful country; if we put fine workmanship in government affairs, it will promote national development andimprove people's well-being. Doctor diagnoses and treats patients with earnest; teachers prepare lesson and correcting students’ homework carefully. These are the examples of fine workmanship. As Premier Li Keqiang said during his visit to Tianjin University of Technology and Education in 2017, "Teachers not only teach theories in the book, but also teach vocational skills.They lead students to serve the country and society, and also cultivate their ingenuity." "Some regard teachers as soul engineers. I hope you can be the one who nurtures the successors of Made in China brand!"

 It is a systematic work to cultivate and carry forward the fine workmanship and to shape their ingenuity, craftsmanship and soul. Government should guide and create a good social and cultural atmosphere. It should advocate the merits of work, value good skills and creation. It should establish and improve the evaluation system of fine workmanship, innovate the incentive policies for skilled talents, and effectively improve the status and treatment of craftsmen. We should let enterprises play the main role and increase R&D investment, encourage employees to improve skills and make technological innovation. It should provide good management, service and operation so that craftsmen could have a sense of achievement and with goal of motivation.We should let education play a basic role, advocate fine craftsmanship in national education, focus on skills and encourage innovation and do not evaluate talents with the four standards as papers, titles, educationalbackground and awards, and strengthen fine craftsmanship in the national gene. More importantly, we need everyone to play an active role, love what we do and be perseverance in doing it. We should be responsible and have ethics. We should stick to lifelong learning, pursue excellence, and improve ourprofessional skills constantly to become an expert who move with the times.

He won the first prize of ZUEL in the undergraduate teaching, 2011. In 2012, he was selected as an outstanding young scholar of Social Sciences in Hubei Province. He was selected as Wenlan young scholar in 2014. He got excellent innovation and entrepreneurship award by Hubei Association for Science & Technology in 2016. He was awarded Special Contribution Award by Chinese Association of Human Resource Development. He has been awarded for his contribution in students’ employment by ZUEL for 4 times. He is currently undertaking the research on construction of culture and craftsmanship of employees in the State Grid.
