I. Background of the Competition

Aims of the Competition

To provide MBA students with chances to undertake management practices

To provide enterprises with a stage to display themselves

To provide enterprises with references to make business decisions

To provide MBA students with a platform to communicate with each other

Previous Competitions: since 2007, the Competition has been organized for eight years. Experts from enterprises, alumni association and universities would be invited to act as judges each year. Students’ performances were impressive and even improved the influence of MBA School, because the champion team wouldcompete on the national level on behalf of ZUEL.

June, 2007: the First MBA Case Competition and the 2007 Harvard Business Review Case Competition

June, 2008: the Second MBA Case Competition and the 2008 Harvard Business Review Case Competition. Nine teams participated in this year’s Competition.

July, 2009: the Third MBA Case Competition and “China Finance” Management Case Competition was held in Haikou. This was the first time that the Competition had been held other than on the campus of ZUEL.

July, 2010: the Fourth MBA Case Competition and China Finance” Management Case Competition was held in Shenzhen.

November, 2012: Chuangzhi Team of MBA School took the second place at the CreditEase1·2012 (8th) China MBA Business Case Competition (Central China Division)

June 2013: MBA School undertook the organization the First China Management Case Competition (Central China Division), GF Team of MBA School won the championship and competed with other teams on the national level on behalf of central China division.

September, 2013: the GF Team won a prize for excellentperformances in the National Final of the First China Management Case Competition

May, 2014: Dream Breakers, a team from Wuhan, won the Championship of 2014 MBA Case Competition

July, 2014: Dream Breakers won took the second place in the Second China Management Case Competition (Central China Division)

July, 2015: two teams from MBA School won the Award for Best New Talents in the Third China Management Case Competition (Western Division)

II. Introduction to the Competition

Organizer: Management Case Study Center, MBA School, ZUEL

Participants: MBA Students of ZUEL

Date of Competition:Preliminary Competition---before May 15th, 2016 (Sunday)

                  Final Competition---June 11th, 2016 (Saturday)

Site if Competition: Preliminary Competition---teaching centers of MBA School

                 Final Competition---MBA School, ZUEL

Competition Rules:

1.     Preliminary Competition

(1)  Each teaching center shall organize its own preliminary competition. Four students shall form a team.

(2)  Five experts shall be invited to act as the judge of preliminary competition.

(3)  Cases of the preliminary competition will be provided by the Management Case Study Center of MBA School one week in advance. The preliminary competition shall be finished before May 15th, 2016. Each teaching center shall have at least one team to attend the final competition.

(4)  Participants of preliminary competition will be awarded with certificates.

(5)  Each teaching center shall write a news report related to its preliminary competition.

(6)  Each teaching center shall submit its name list of the participants for the final competition before May 20th. Otherwise, it will be deemed as a giving-up. E-mail: znmbacase@163.com

2.     Final Competition

(1)  Each teaching center shall have at least one team. Each team shall contain five person, four members and one team leader appointed by the Management Case Study Center. Team members shall wear uniforms.

(2)  The competition cases will be sent to the participant 72 hours in advance. Each team shall make a PPT for demonstration and a Word document to comment on the case.

(3)  Each team shall submit its documents (in print) to the judging panel. Otherwise, it will be deemed as a giving-up. There will be a lots drawing to decide each team’s order.

(4)  The competition will adopt a PK method, which means two teams will fight against each other.

a.      Part one---PK: there will be a host in this part. All the team members shall speak according to the instructions of the host. (30 minutes)

b.     Part two: the judges will ask the team members several questions. (12 minutes)

III. Awards

【Team Awards】

Champion (one team): the champion will be awarded with a medal and 10, 000 yuan and will attend the Fourth China Management Case Competition on behalf of ZUEL.

First runner-up (one team): a medal and 5, 000 yuan will be awarded.

Second runner-up (one team): a medal and 3, 000 yuan will be awarded.

Award for the best image (one team): a medal and 2, 000 yuan will be awarded.

All the participants will be given a certificate.

【Individual Awards】

Award for the MVP: a certificate and 1, 000 yuan

Award for the most graceful demeanor: a certificate and 1, 000 yuan

Award for the best coach: a certificate and 1, 000 yuan

Award for the best debater: a certificate and 1, 000 yuan

IV. Publicity of the Competition

In order to present our themes and achieve our aims, we plan to do some publicity work during the Competition.

1.     Brand Image

We welcome the alumni to name the Competition with their brand names or to plant their brands in the Competition. And the Management Case Study Center of MBA School can design cases according to your company. These cases could be used during the Competition.

2.      Media Publicity

Our website and we-chat will report on the Competition.

3.      Recording and collection of Video

(1)   Each teaching center shall provide a report on its own preliminary competition.

(2)   Each team of the final competition shall submit a 3-minute video and several pictures of the preliminary, which will be posted on our website and we-chat.
