On November 16th, FORTUNE (China) released its ranking list of “China’s 25 most influential business women of 2012”. Mingzhu Dong, an EMBA alumna of ZUEL and Chairman and President of Gree Electric Appliances Inc., was ranked in the first place. She has been ranked in the list for the third straight year.
During the last 20 years, Mingzhu Dong has grown from a clerk to the head of world’s largest refrigerator enterprise. She became the idol of many entrepreneurs and turned to be a legend of China’s business world. Each of her actions and moves made great differences to the industry; her strict enforcement of orders and prohibitions influenced China’s entire manufacturing industry.
In 2012, the performance of most electric appliance enterprises has declined due to the decreasing market demand and the stagnant economic environment. However, Gree’s sales volume still grew and exceeded market expectations. Gree’s gross revenue in the first three quarters of 2012 has reached RMB 77.165 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 20.43%; the net revenue has reached RMB 5.332 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 41.34%.
On the just-concluded China Import and Export Fair, the orders that Gree got were nearly about US$ 300 million, with a year-on-year growth of 20%.
It is estimated that Gree’s gross revenue of 2012 may reach 100 billion, becoming China’s first electric appliance enterprise that has been entered the “100 billion club” relying on a single category.
Let’s wait and see what Mingzhu Dong, China’s most influential business woman, will bring to China in the coming 2013.
