On May 12 and 13, 2012, “Seminar on Case Teaching and Development” was successfully hosted by ZUEL MBA School and Richard Ivey School of Business at ZUEL’s Shouyi Campus. Professor Paul Beamish, from Richard Ivey School of Business in West Ontario University, was invited as the guest speaker. The participants included experts from Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, etc., and more than 50 teachers of ZUEL MBA School.
Professor Beamish holds the Chair in International Management at Ivey. He is the director of Ivey Publishing, director of Emerging Markets Research Centre and director of Asian Management Institute. He has been dedicated to the promotion and application of case teaching and development for more than 30 years, which gives him abundant experience in this area.
During the seminar, Professor Beamish gave a model lecture, and discussed with the participants on various problems. At last, Professor Beamish, based on one of his self-developed cases, made a demonstration of the process of case development, discussed the problems concerning case development, introduced the management model and experience of Richard Ivey School of Business, and encouraged the participants to take part in the practice of case development.
After the seminar, Dr. Xin Nie (Vice Dean of MBA School) and associate professor Hao Wen (director of “Chinese Finance” Management Cases Research Centre), together with several other staff of MBA School, invited Professor Paul Beamish for dinner and discussed matters about future cooperation.
