On 26^th Oct, professor LIU Feng, the author of Learning Leadership from Chairman MAO Zedong, came to our school to give us a lecture related to Managerial Decisions. He elaborated the connotation of managerial innovation and art of leadership from the perspectives of improving performance, innovative thinking and incentive mechanism. During a 2-day course, professor LIU summarized many related cases and raised questions for the students, the discussions are hot and active.

 As a leading person in the field of Leadership Management, and as a professor of China National School of Administration and Peking University Guanghua School of Management, he gave EMBA courses in Tsinghua, Peking, Fuda Universities and SGP International Management Academy. The course-leadership management-of LIU is a tailored course for our EMBA program. The course relates to different features of leaders in SOEs, private enterprises and public institutions. His course is also very funny and humourous.

 In his course, he pointed that: “The development of science lies in innovative thinking；The management innovation lies in decision-making: The leaders should increase their EQ and IQ, so as to offer a complete plan of development and improve performance by correcting decisions." He has quoted the word from Sun-Tzu, Confucius and Chairman Mao, he emphasized management and leadership is science, and also an art. He thinks that leadership is not only an ability of a leader, but also represents by the leader. His course is full of his novel understanding, remarks and funny languages with his own features.

   When talking about the leadership style, he pointed out that the leaders should understand a new concept of employing people: the difference of people should not be repelled; it should be emphasized and utilized. Besides, a leader should learn how to be humble and easy-going, so he could gain his power.

 The curriculum module of “managerial decision-making” is an important part of the four EMBA curriculum modules. Many famous national scholars of management, civilization, philosophy and so on were invited to teach in EMBA class with different theme and topics. The cross-disciplinary study enlightened the students and inspired them by building up a platform for communications.
